You’re not alone if you’ve ruined more than one pair of high heels while battling the elements in everyday life. And, as much as we’d like to use our stilettos as mere props, a “wear only while sitting” rule isn’t a practical solution for keeping them free of nicks and rips!
So, in the interest of shoe care, I’ll go over some of the best gadgets (like high heel protectors!) to keep your heeled investments safe. Because, am I right, we all want our high heels and best heel protectors for grass!?
Fortunately for us, many forward-thinking companies have developed shoe accessories such as high heel savers.
There are some seriously amazing products on the market that can save our high heels from almost anything. Including, but not limited to, cobblestones, grass, sand, and even the interiors of our own cars while driving.
What to Look for in Heel Protectors for Grass
Before we get into the best heel protectors for grass, let’s take a closer look at the important features that a good product should have. Since we’ve already mentioned that these heel protectors are necessary if you frequently walk on grassy pavements, there are a few things to keep in mind. If you do this, you will be able to quickly identify the best heel protector for your needs. Without further ado, here are some of the features to look for when purchasing the best grass heel protectors.
Durability
One of the first things to look for in a heel protector is durability. When a product is durable, it can withstand repeated use for an extended period of time. The material used in the heel protectors contributes to their durability. If you want them to last a long time, consider PVC heel protectors (polyvinyl chloride). To make it more flexible, it is mixed with plasticizers.
Stability
The second thing you should look for is stability. While stability does not usually go hand in hand with heel walking, you may want to think about it if you are going on long walks. So, even if your ankles tire, the heel protector’s stability will allow you to relax and find comfort.
Utilization Ease
Finally, you should look into heel protectors that are simple to use. This means that you can place or remove the protector with minimal effort. If you find it difficult to remove the protector from your high heels, it’s clear that they’re not a good fit for you.
The features listed above are just a few of the many factors to consider before purchasing the best heel protectors for grass. When looking through various heel protectors, you may want to keep these features in mind so that you can narrow down your options to the one that best suits your needs.

How to Walk in High Heels – Step by Step Guide
High Heel Protectors for Grass
Let’s face it: stilettos frequently go places they shouldn’t. As a result, it’s no surprise that one of the most popular heel protection accessories is one that prevents heels from sinking into grass and becoming ruined.
For example, at a wedding or garden party where grassy lawns are used. You can’t possibly wear flats to a wedding, can you? Okay, you can, but it’s usually not a first choice.
Any partygoer who has recently worn high heel caps on grass will likely rave about them. Because walking and standing is important in these situations! But hold on…more! there’s
These ingenious contraptions aren’t just for protecting your heels in the grass; they can also protect your high heels from muddy streets, country roads, and sand.
What’s great about these heel caps is that they come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. Making it easier for you to find a heel cap that meets your needs and preferences.
The SolesMates Grass Heel Covers
Solemates’ High Heeler is a celebrity favorite and one of the most highly rated patented stiletto caps on the market. I recently discovered that Solemates were the first of their kind to be invented (I verified it!).
Since their product was introduced to the market, it has spawned a slew of knockoffs. They really are that good!
Solemates’ heel caps, which are made in the United States, are a discreet and functional option if you’ll be walking on and off the grass in stiletto heels.
The clear version is the most popular, but they also come in black, silver, and gold. These heel tip protectors are reusable and come in three sizes (narrow, classic, and wide).
The brand’s line has expanded to include a variety of shoe care accessories, which I intend to feature in the near future. This female-owned company appeared on Shark Tank a few weeks ago. Have you seen the episode?
Solesmates’ High Heelers are available at Walmart.
Heel Strips for Grasswalkers
If you need a larger grass shield, the Grasswalkers heel protectors from the United States have the most surface area and will fit most types of heels. Consider them to be do-it-yourself wedges! They can also be used on other types of heels besides stilettos.
Grasswalkers are clear and flexible, and they cover both the heel tip and the sole, helping to protect any delicate leather outsoles. They have a good grainy grip on the outside to keep you from slipping on the surface you’re walking on.
These, I’m sure, could also keep heels from sinking into the sand. But I still have to give it a shot. Keep an eye on this space for an update!
You’d think that because these grass heel protectors are larger than any other of their kind, they’d be more visible than a simple heel cap. They are, however, nearly invisible. Seriously.
I had a hard time getting them to show up in the photos above!
Grasswalkers come in two sizes to fit different shoes and are intended for one-time use only. I wear a size 8 shoe, and the large size fits best on my heels.
A worthwhile side note: Grasswalkers donates a percentage of its sales to arts education each year.
High Heel Protector Caps for Everyday Use
Pin-thin stilettos, no matter how high-quality, aren’t going to get you from A to Z without incident for the busy everyday gal. Many obstacles await our high heels, from cobblestones to concrete rubble!
Click-Free Heel Caps
Although SoleMates heel caps can be used for everyday walking, Clickless heel protector caps are a great choice if you want a more or less visible alternative to protect your heels from small rocks and city sidewalks.
They’re also multi-functional, as they’re a clever way to keep heels from clicking! With a smaller surface area, these heel tip covers will protect the base of your stilettos while remaining undetected.
Because I live in a big city, this is the heel protector I rely on the most. You can read my in-depth review of these heel caps here.
Heel Protectors on the Back
If you want to protect more than just the top piece of your heels — that’s the technical term for that little plastic nib on the base of your stiletto — look no further than plastic heel protectors to keep your heels in good shape!
As in Heel of Steel. These nearly invisible, cut-to-size strips work on both matte and shiny heels.
When worn with heel tip protectors like Clickless or Solemates, these plastic protectors can keep your upper heels from getting stained and muddied by grass and other debris.
Driving High Heel Covers
When I was commuting daily for my out-of-town design job a few years ago, I wish I had known about heel guards for shoes that can be worn in the car. It would have literally saved a few of my favorite shoes from being thrown away.
Although many ladies (and gentlemen) prefer to keep a pair of driving shoes — that is, disgusting but comfortable shoes that no one will ever see — under the driver’s seat of their cars, there is an alternative.
For example, add a pair of pretty fierce-looking heel shields from Haelgart (shown above) or ShoeCoat, to name a few! As you can see below, there is a wide range of protectors available for both stilettos and flats, as well as for any shoe.
So, whether you’re driving in heels or not, you can rest assured that your shoes will be protected. In a literal sense!
Final Words
So, if you want to protect any part of your heels from city streets, country parks, or your own car, you have plenty of options. You could even double up by wearing a shield and a heel cap!
And thank goodness for these incredible shoe heel protectors: without them, our heels would not be able to join us for as many special occasions.
